Puppy Plus Course

Learn about what happens when your foundational training is complete

Do you have an older puppy who has done brilliantly with the basics? Are you looking to take the next step in obedience & socialisation?

canisocial_highres_035

A programme designed for those who are looking to further their puppy's skills ready for adulthood

This programme aims to take your puppy’s training to the next level. Now you’ve mastered crate training, toilet training and the beginnings of a lasting relationship, you’re probably wondering when to start behaviours such as loose lead walking and settling in public.

Over the course of 5 lessons (approximately weekly, each lasting approximately an hour), you will use the foundational skills learned in the puppy foundation programme to advance your training. This package is of course bespoke, but our specific aim is to take you from puppyhood to adulthood, giving you a wider range of skills that you can take into every day life.

Providing a 1:1 opportunity to develop even further with your puppy

Here are just some of the real-life skills that you will learn during the Puppy Plus programme.

Loose lead walking

Once your puppy reaches a certain age, we want to be able to walk calmly down the street with no pulling.

Sit & down stays

Teaching your puppy to hold a position for an indefinite period of time is essential for safety.

Recall

Proofing the recall cue everywhere we go, leading to more off-lead freedom.

Dog neutrality

Continuing to build the mindset that not everyone wants to play and to see other dogs as background noise.

Settling in public

Teaching your older puppy to lay quietly at your feet when in pubs or restaurants.

Wellbeing & genetics

Looking holistically at the individual dog to determine how we can meet their needs based on their biological traits.
Puppy Board & Train

Each programme is a unique experience, meaning no two puppies will be taught the same skills

However, all puppies will build a fantastic relationship with their owner and continue to build their confidence to new things.

Your Puppy Plus lessons will consist of discussing progress so far, proofing known skills in new areas and, of course, learning new skills around our pack of excellent adult stooge dogs.

We will help you & your older puppy to take your training to the next level in a way that is attainable and realistic for you. All our lessons are 1:1, meaning you have our undivided attention and you can learn only what you need to succeed.

We're proud to introduce

We’ve created this FAQ section to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about our Puppy Plus programme.

This programme is only suitable for those who have completed the initial 5-week puppy course with us, and who have therefore completed their foundational training.
Puppies start the initial package from 8-16 weeks old; presuming your puppy finished their initial programme at 21 weeks old at the latest, the oldest your puppy can be to start this next course is 24 weeks old (6 months old).

This course is also 5 weeks long. You do not need to do a consultation to start this course because you will have already trained with us.

As with any of our 1:1 lessons, the Puppy Plus lessons take place at a location chosen by both parties and suitable & convenient for both parties.

Whilst the main aim of this programme is to advance your puppy’s training, not modify problem behaviours, we understand that progress isn’t linear with puppies and we are happy to help you resolve any problems that you may have encountered on your puppy training journey.

This programme is £195 and consists of 5 lessons, normally across 5 weeks. Each lesson lasts about 45 minutes.

We have our own views on vaccination protocols; how you vaccinate your puppy is your choice. As mentioned in the FAQs for the initial puppy course, your puppy does not need to be ‘fully vaccinated’ to start either course with us, and we do not recommend keeping your puppy inside until vaccinations are ‘complete’ because this seriously hinders socialisation.
We adhere to strict & detailed hygiene procedures at all times during any of our lessons.
